Principal's Blog - July 2019

I am proud to say we ended the year on a high note, partaking in great events and achieving so much academically.

A huge well done to our students who were finalists in the Young Women into Property and Construction annual competition. This is a great event hosted by the University of Wolverhampton, which brings together schools from across the region in order to inspire young women to this career path.

Year 10’s went on a trip to London where they visited the Houses of Parliament. They were able to watch a live Parliamentary discussion and gained an insight into politics and current affairs. It was extremely informative and our students had a lovely day out.

In our final week we had our end of year Young Designers Exhibition which is an important time for the students as they get to present their final employer-led project presentation. We had some fantastic feedback from all visitors. Please follow the link to find out more   http://metroalliance.co.uk/students-get-future-careers-on-track-with-design-of-their-own-wolverhampton-metro-extension/  Once again thank-you to all employer partners who help make this happen and thank-you to our fantastic construction and design team.

A group of five of our Year 10 students exhibited at the University of Wolverhampton Annual SciFest.  The topic this year was Space, to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the lunar landings.  Students participated in activities such as ‘make your own planet’ and origami space shuttles for which they earned themselves a National Science Association CREST Award for their efforts.  Well done!

The penultimate day of the year was marked by a ‘fun day out’ for all students and staff. It was a truly fantastic end to the year with a barbeque, rounders and a staff vs students cricket match. The staff team pictured below just about edged the victory but the true winners were our students in their decision to study at the UTC.

We honoured the last day of the summer term by hosting a rewards assembly for our Year 10 and Year 12 students where our most hardworking students were awarded with certificates of achievement and small gifts. I am extremely proud of the excellent attendance, conduct and academic achievement which has taken place throughout the year.

Finally we would like to wish all of our students a restful break and we look forward to seeing you again in September. We also look forward to seeing our Year 11s and 13s on results day.
