Minimum entry requirements:

Year 12 students wishing to follow Level 2 courses must achieve a minimum of five 9–2 grades at GCSE (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics.

Year 12 students wishing to follow Level 3 courses must achieve a minimum of five 9–4 grades at GCSE including English Language and Mathematics.

Note that particular courses at post-16 may have their own minimum requirements (for example, students wishing to study Mathematics A-level must achieve grade 6 in Mathematics GCSE). If you meet the minimum entry requirements but do not meet the minimum requirements for your first choice of courses, you may be offered a place at the UTC and we will assist you in selecting courses appropriate to your qualifications.

At the West Midlands UTC (WMUTC) our curriculum is different to other schools and traditional types of learning. Students can choose from one of our programme pathways in Design, Build or Innovate. This will team academic subjects with practical learning, and core subjects alongside a small number of optional subjects up to GCSE or A Level equivalent.

Years 10 and 11 – a combination of academic and technical learning

Students will gain up to seven GCSEs and two technical awards.

All students

Students will also take part in enrichment activities that encourage interests beyond the normal West Midlands UTC curriculum – this can include sport and outdoor activities, voluntary and charity work, art, music and creative activities, and can also include projects and school competitions.
