At West Midlands UTC (WMUTC) we do so much more than just studying for qualifications and offer an extensive enrichment program, including sports: football, badminton, table tennis, basketball, boxing, gym, kick boxing and karate as well as offering chess, Minecraft and film review and other worthwhile activities to engage students. All Key Stage 4 students partake in a weekly fitness session.

We have sponsorship from Lovell and Redrow for football and basketball teams, and compete in Wolverhampton school competitions.

As part of our UTC Extra offer we facilitate life drawing, portraiture and drawing with a difference, including printmaking, textiles and sculpture work. Our students have opportunities to work alongside university students with lecturers in workshops at the school of art and design.

In addition, we offer Combined Cadet Force (CCF) and Adventure Training. This is a Ministry of Defence sponsored youth movement that instils British military ethos as well as encouraging physical fitness, moral courage, and self-discipline. We have field-days and overnight military exercises. We take advantage of the generous Adventure Training packages offered by the military. Staff have a variety of qualifications such as military qualifications in Exercise Management, Mountain Leader, Rock Climbing Instructor and First Aid.

WMUTC also offers the chance to take part in the Duke of York Award.
