The summer term is always one of the busiest for schools and 2018 has been no exception. A massive thank-you to our wonderful staff who have shown great dedication in supporting our students to meet all coursework deadlines. This meant late nights at the UTC and pizza!
As we head into the exam season I would like to wish our Year 11s and 13s the best of luck. This is a particularly stressful time but it is also an opportunity to showcase everything you have learnt whilst at the UTC over the past 2-4 years.
I trust our students will do themselves and their parents proud as they did during Employer Project presentations –not only demonstrating professional technical skills but also those soft skills such as resilience, communication and teamwork that can make all the difference in the world of work.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish the Elite Centre for Manufacturing Skills (ECMS) the best for the future. This is an apprenticeship hub opening next door to us on The Springfield Campus. The ECMS saw 4 of our students this week for potential apprenticeships and are planning to meet with another 11 –exciting times ahead for this collaboration. I’m also pleased to welcome Metro Alliance as the latest employer partner who are keen to talk to our students about apprenticeship opportunities.
Last week the Year 10s were involved in the Big Food Showdown. As well as having lots of fun our students learnt about healthy eating. Well done to the Red Chillis on their narrow victory.
Let’s hope this term continues to be a positive one and long may the weather remain hot and sunny as it was over this glorious bank holiday.
